A prestigious legacy
An exceptional terroir allowed Château Belgrave to enter the official 1855 classification, an emblematic recognition of the Médoc Grands Crus Classés. This historic title still commits us today to pursuing our quest for excellence and preserving a unique winemaking expertise passed down through generations.
The 1855 classification, a world reference
Created for the Universal Exhibition in Paris, the classement de 1855 ranked the great red wines of the Médoc and the sweet wines of Sauternes according to their reputation and price. More than 150 years later, it remains an essential reference for the Bordeaux wine region and a universal symbol of quality.
Lecacy, excellence and transmission
It was in this prestigious context that Chateau Belgrave was awarded Grand Cru Classé status in 1855. Under the guidance of Bruno Devez, the richness of our terroir and the precision of our winemaking have revealed the depth and elegance of our wines. This classification embodies a philosophy of exacting standards that guides our approach: respect for the terroir, rigorous viticulture, and the pursuit of the purest expression of Médoc.
Being a Grand Cru Classé 1855 means belonging to a prestigious circle, but also committing every day to honoring this heritage. Through the quality of our wines and our respect for the terroir, we contribute to enhancing the renown of the great wines of the Médoc and Bordeaux.
